My Project
My bilingual students are a group of energetic, compassionate, and motivated learners who strive for greatness every single day. In our classroom, our affirmation is “The future of the world is in our classroom,” which resonates with each one of my students.
I want my students to know they can achieve their goals and become valuable citizens of their community!
The majority of my students come from low-income households, single parents, foster care, and recently immigrated here to the United States. My school is a Title 1 school located in Trenton, New Jersey. All students received free lunches based upon social economic status. As a teacher working in this area, my students are faced with many challenges inside and outside the classroom. For example language barriers, low self-esteem, and working below grade level affect their academic learning. My goal for my students is to provide them with a safe academic environment where students feel comfortable and can achieve their learning goals. My students will be able to read books in their native language (Spanish). These decodable books will make them confident readers and show students how to decode sounds to make words. The math manipulatives will help students understand difficult addition and subtraction concepts through hands-on learning. Sometimes my students need a break and I want to provide them with something sensory to help them focus when they are ready to continue working. My students will love using the rainbow liquid viewers. All of the items in my cart will help me provide the best instruction to my first-grade students.
