My Students

My third graders are excited to learn about their world. They come to school with diverse skills and needs that have been impacted by COVID education disruptions. Some have reading needs, some need help with math skills, and some are struggling with social-emotional skills and classroom engagement after significant time spent learning at home. Despite all this, they are thoughtful, creative, hard working, and ready to tackle these challenges together. They especially love hands on learning activities that get them motivated and excited about learning and being at school.

We incorporate a wide variety of hands on learning methods in every subject, giving all students a chance to grow, problem solve, and shine.

These lessons increase engagement, while meeting individual needs, and ensure that all students are making progress and find success at school.

My Project

The resources chosen will support students with reading, math, and social-emotional skill development, the skills which have been most impacted due to educational disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The teacher materials and books will specifically address students who are struggling with basic 3rd grade reading and math skills. These materials allow me to focus in on each student's needs and better individualize instruction. Next, I have requested materials to support hands on learning in all subjects. These materials support individual and group problem solving. They motivate and engage students more actively in science, math, and reading activities. Finally, I have requested materials that support cross curricular arts lessons. These lessons support student social-emotional growth, whole child learning, and give opportunity for self-expression while learning about our world.
