Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are future world changers. I have students of all ages and unique personalities. They all are special education students who are in the self-contained setting to receive support with academics, with their behavior and social skills in a small group environment. They are all unique in their own way, learning with different styles and in different ways. I know that they have it in them to be successful.
My students are caring, loving and hard-working kiddos who deserve an inviting classroom they can learn in every day with hands-on activities.
My Project
This year a structured teaching classroom is new to me. I am excited to be able to bring in more sensory/play/social skills activities for high-needs students! They have the sweetest souls, and deserve this and more! Each of my students has a different disability that in turn has them learn in different ways. Being able to have hands-on activities including those in my project will help my students be successful towards their individual goals. These goals include academics way below grade level, behavioral expectations and outcomes, social-emotional support, physical, and communication struggles.
The items I am asking for in my project include hands-on manipulatives, activities, games, academic flashcards, paper materials, and a wish to be able to find more projects and materials on Teachers Pay Teachers to put into my students' hands.
Teachers Pay Teachers has worksheets, lessons, and activities that help students in math, reading, writing, social-emotional, and life skills.
My students are 2nd-4th grade students, who work at a pre-k to 2nd-grade level, who cannot be in the general education classroom for many reasons but deserve the same education as their general education peers. They have individual goals that require repetition of learning, visuals, and hands-on activities. Some goals include number sense, number, shape and color recognition, addition and subtraction, fine motor skills, basic reading including letter and sound recognition, peer to peer relationships, and being able to follow classroom and school expectations. Everything is so appreciated!
