Our school serves only Pre-K students who come from all over the district. Our classroom is filled with a diverse group of 4 year olds. Many of our students come from diverse environments with different life experiences. Our classroom has 22 wonderful, energetic, smart, and deserving students. My students are active, creative, eager to learn, and ready to explore!
For many of my students, the moment they walk through the classroom door will be their first school experience.
My goal is to help my students not only learn the basic fundamentals of school, but to help them learn social skills, foster creativity, and provide a variety of life experiences.
My Project
In our classroom, we learn through play. Our materials are natural and everyday items students come in contact with such as rocks, and sticks. The branch blocks will enhance our block center by providing students with an opportunity to build, create, and plan using durable natural looking materials.
Providing open-ended objects encourages students to think outside the box when building and creating.
The stacking stones and threading pebbles will be used as daily provocations during morning time and offered during center exploration time. The stones and threading will allow students to develop their hand eye coordination and fine motor skills. Students will develop patience and stamina by attempting to lace the pebbles and stack the stones to match the picture cards provided.
The number and counting stones will also be used as a math provocation for students at tables or within a center. Because the materials are open-ended, students could count out beads, rocks, or other natural objects to match the number on the pebble. Students could also use the numbers to practice writing or place stones in order. The learning possibilities are endless with the natural materials requested!
