My students need the Slide & Reveal Alphabet Apples, Let's Go Fishing Fishing Sorting & Patterning Center and the Light Up Activities to keep them engaged while they learn.
I teach a half-day Pre-K program with 22 kids in the morning and 22 new kids in the afternoon. I have a multitude of skills to teach in a short amount of time. This means I have to make all moments of our day not only engaging, but educational.
My students learn best when they are introduced to skills with hands-on materials and then are given the opportunity to work with the skill in a multitude of different ways.
We have many different learning styles in our classroom and I like to provide children with the opportunities to not only work in areas that they feel the most comfortable, but also to step outside of their comfort zone on occasion and try new things.
My Project
Children learn best when they have the opportunity to grow in an environment which allows them to explore, discover and play while learning. For this reason hands-on learning is an important part of a developmentally appropriate Early Childhood program.
When children are giving these learning experiences they increase skill retention, increase engagement and help to improve their problem solving skills.
It also allow for opportunities of critique, gives chances for extra practice and benefits all learning styles.
The activities in this grant such as the Slide & Reveal Alphabet Apples, the Lets Go Fishing sets, the Write the Letter Activity Center and the Light Up Sets will allow for multiple new learning experiences. I will use these activities to provide engaging activities during our skilled Table Work rotations daily. This is the time of the day where I introduce new concepts and the students are given the opportunity to fully explore the skills with hands-on materials.
