Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are English learners who are starting to learn English. Our demographics are mainly Title I students, who are also from low socioeconomic homes. Most of the students in my class are on free and reduced lunch. Most students have never been in school until now. I would like to be able to provide them with the best learning environment possible. My little ones come to school happy every day and are always ready to learn.
Our classroom needs to be suitable to meet the needs of these eager learners.
Learning with technology is very important
Enhance learning. Our school is losing funding for technology next year and we won’t have the access to technology we have now. These children have great imaginations and deserve to have the best resources there are.
My Project
My students could really benefit with these hands-on learning tools they allow them to manipulate parts of words to build words and learn language. They need to be able to manipulate tools as they learn to problem solve and collaborate using the Tiggly words, cvc spelling board games, and sequencing practice games. These tools will help the students develop academic language through play. These also foster vocabulary development and language acquisition. My students come low-income families and benefit from these types of activities. Our school's budget is being reduced significantly as the year is coming to an end and these tools won’t be able to be provided by school administrators. The ability to have these tools would be a great asset to learning.
