This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Just like our island of Kaua'i, our​ school is a melting pot of culture. My students come from many different backgrounds and have various strengths that all contribute to a class of passionate learners.

Teaching 1st grade assigns me the crucial responsibility of instilling a lifelong love of reading in my students.

Through DonorsChoose, I hope to provide my students with the tools they need in order to thrive as readers, scientists, mathematicians, writers, artists, and above all, happy and successful members of society.

My Project

The Osmo Genius Kit has five award-winning games that transform our class iPad into a hands-on learning tool.

The kit contains activities for core subjects like math and spelling as well as games which encourage problem solving through puzzles, visual thinking through Tangrams, and creative drawing skills.

Students will be able to access a game called Words which teaches spelling and phonics skills, Numbers which has math activities, Newton which uses physics, and more. Various number, letter, and puzzle playing pieces are used to interact with the program on the iPad. The activities are hands-on, engaging, and most importantly- they make learning fun!
