My students are energetic and engaged in learning more through literature and math. With ever changing technology, listening to books on tapes or CD is not quenching their thirst for reading and completing worksheets is not providing them with challenges in math.
My Kindergarten class has 20 students ranging in backgrounds, knowledge and abilities.
We have 6 additional students push into the classroom for academics.
The classroom consists of students who are struggling learners, on-level learners and students who need challenged. Some of the students have had a prior classroom experience while others are coming directly from home experiences only. The students are hungry for expanding their knowledge using technology. All of our students receive free and reduced price breakfast, lunch and snack daily. The school provides education for all students ranging from the typical peer to intensive students. The students come from diverse backgrounds and come to school to experience a positive environment and safe learning experience. I am hoping to enrich learning for the students who have access to technology while exposing those students who are less fortunate to use technology in our ever changing and expanding technological society.
My Project
The students will use the Chrome Books and headphones to listen to informational and literary texts related to the themes being taught in conjunction with the Common Core Standards. The students will be able to access a variety of reading programs. The students will be able to record themselves reading which will increase their confidence and fluency rate. The students will have access to a variety of math programs and will become engaged in learning through applying what they have learned and challenging themselves.
The use of technology will allow the students to focus on the reading and math. They will be able to make real-life connections. The students will be able to listen to the literature and work on math problems at their own pace while being exposed to a variety of texts and concepts.
The students will be able to use the Chrome books for writing, reading and math throughout the school day. This will provide increased comfort and opportunities for all students.
The donations to the classroom will make a difference in the learning of my students by providing them with the opportunity to interact with technology in our expanding technological community.
The students will be able to use the Chrome books and headphones during small group, centers and independently more frequently. We will create reading recordings, writing pieces and much more with the increase in access to technology in the classroom. My students are eager to utilize technology but are limited.
