Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the sweetest, most wonderful children you will ever meet. For most of my students this is the first time in a classroom setting and they work hard everyday to learn to be great students. They love learning and are so eager to learn as much as they can.
Our school has a hugely diverse population.
We are a charter school in a large city. We are 100% free and reduced lunch. About half of our students are Hispanic. We also have a large population of refugees. We have over 10 different languages spoken at our school. We love the diversity of our population and work to make sure all cultures are honored and respected.
My Project
My students need a sensory table so that they can explore their world while learning. Whether its identifying letters or sight words, identifying numbers or solving addition problems, a sensory table would make each activity fun, new, and exciting for me students.
Sensory tables are wonderful at allowing students to have fun while learn in addition to developing their fine motor skills and promoting problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Having a sensory table in our classroom would make a huge impact on my students. Students would continue to develop a love of learning because its fun as well as increase academic skills.
