This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students at my inner-city public school are simply amazing. They come to school each day excited to learn and to show off how successful they are in their learning. It breaks my heart to know that over 90% of the students at my school live in high poverty.
I want to be able to provide my students with everything they want and more.
Our school's focus is "Personalized Learning", and I want to make learning a personal, fun, and exciting experience for all of them. A lot of my students learn kinesthetically by moving their bodies around. It helps them stay focused and ready to take on any new challenge!
My Project
My students all learn in different ways and many of them prefer hands-on learning over the typical paper-and-pencil activities. File Folder Games for Reading, Writing, and Math are a great way for children to meet and exceed their grade-level standards in a fun way. Bingo is a really popular game in our classroom and my students would enjoy to have more advanced Vocabulary Bingo as they prepare for 3rd grade. For Math, it would be awesome to have a 120 Chart for the children to refer too in class along with a Regrouping Chart to help them visualize those challenging 3 digit addition and subtraction problems.
I love to watch my students get excited about learning and I know these new, fun, and standards-based activities will help them be more interested and engaged in learning!
