Hands-on Learning to Become Better Readers!

My Students

My students come to school ready to learn. I am an English Language Learner teacher. My students work hard to learn how to speak, listen, read, and write in English effectively.

All students should be given the same opportunity to succeed in school regardless of their background or native language.

Each child in my classroom enjoys learning and loves to share that learning with their family and peers.

My Project

Some students are reluctant readers. These students need to find ways to connect to what they are reading so that they can gain valuable literacy skills. By funding, this project students will read the corresponding biographies or folk tales that accompany each of the STEM projects. Students will then virtually work together to solve the problem of the story using the different pieces of the STEM kit.

While engaged in STEM activities students will simultaneously strengthen their literacy skills.

This will allow students to practice their academic skills while also learning how to work together, collaborate, and brainstorm ideas. Who knows, this project might inspire a future engineer!
