My Students
Our school is located in Brooklyn. It is a family oriented environment where teachers know all of the children and families. We have built a strong sense of community that transcends our relationships.
Each student in my classroom brings a unique aspect to our school family.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves participating and learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. My teaching team and I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met. The students both support and challenge each other every day, and they demonstrate great persistence! I am proud of the progress that they continue to make!
My Project
The products selected will allow our students to actively participate in learning, and promote cooperative and constructive engagement in group situations. STEM builders, Geo-boards, and transparent light and color blocks will promote hands-on learning experiences which are essential for critical thinking skills, and making connections to real life experiences. Students will benefit from working collaboratively with each other as well as developing positive relationships, and with board games they can continue to develop social problem solving skills, increase language, and strengthen their ability to follow one and two step directions. The literacy and math Bingo games and CVC spelling board games will be used in learning centers to support and reinforce skills that have been introduced in class. Math flash cards and numeral dice will help students build fluency which is critical for developing future mathematical skills. We will use the printer and construction paper to create visual aids for students that require additional support with language and communication.

More importantly, students will be able to apply their knowledge to other academic areas, develop autonomy, and the self-confidence to push themselves further!
