Hands-On Learning: My Students Need Supplies to Help Them Build
Help me give my students the ability to visualize and plan stories in a hands-on way using LEGO bricks!
This project expired on January 22, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students, past and present, are my Rock Star Readers! I absolutely LOVE my job, and I am always looking for ways to reach and teach ALL of my students. Thanks to good parenting and a positive classroom culture, my Rock Stars are kind, polite, intelligent, fun, creative, thoughtful and enthusiastic learners! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things. First grade is such an important year! I love to watch them grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Have you ever sat down to write something and been stuck?
That's how most first year olds are during our writing block! They LOVE writing to their pen-pals, because it's personal and fun, but when we get into the different kinds of writing, many of them get writer's block. What can I do?!???! MAKE WRITING FUN. :)
This year I have a group of students that are extremely hands-on. They do very well with tactile learning activities. Tactile learning is a learning style in which learning takes place by the students carrying out physical activities, rather than listening to me lecture, or watching me model how to do something. How can I meet their needs when it comes to writing? EASY! Make it fun and HANDS-ON!
This year we will explore eight different styles of writing using LEGO bricks, mini-figures, plastic baseplates, plants, animals, food, and vehicles- and we need your help!
I know my Rock Stars will have a blast creating settings and characters out of LEGO building bricks and mini figures. This will make it easier to plan out story elements, and it will produce some incredible original stories. Please help this project become a reality!
