My Students

Make a dream come true! We want a school garden. As part of the Disney Planet Challenge, we want to grow vegetables, eat healthier, learn lessons outdoors, and build a better school community.

My third grade class loves to get their hands dirty and be involved in active learning.

Due to an austerity budget, we don't have a lot of science materials. We want to have a sustainable project -- not just for this year, but for years to come. We want our school to have a garden that grows as my students grow and learn throughout their elementary years.

My Project

We are just starting. In January, we will begin creating an indoor garden thanks to the past generosity of donors. But we will need to eventually move our seedlings and plants outdoors. We would like a pop-up greenhouse to keep our fragile plants safe from the unpredictable weather. We want gardening gloves to keep our children's hands as clean as possible!

My children are learning that there are kind and giving people who are willing to invest in their education.

Our school garden will teach my students that they can do something good for themselves which is also good for the other children in our school. In social studies, we read about children from other parts of the world. We know that not all children have enough food. A school garden teaches so many important lessons. I want my kids to grow and give back to their community.
