My Project

The use of lab equipment such as beakers, a timer and flasks, is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in chemistry and physical science. Doing an experiment in the lab allows students to have a more hands-on approach to learning science. Small group pairing allows me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide feedback instantly. What becomes a problem is the fact that we never seem to have enough equipment to have students in pairs, normally groups of 3 or 4 are typical. When something goes awry, it is often times because of over crowded groups or not enough equipment to allow everyone to participate all at once. Even though they will adjust and are typically great about doing this, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues because of the lag time in between engagement. By having additional glassware and stopwatches, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether they have enough materials to go around. Plus in this hands-on world, any interaction with updated equipment will increase their science skills as well as their desire to learn and conduct new experiments!
