I teach in a rural, public K-5 Title One school near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Although my students have special needs, they do not allow that to stop them from giving their all every day. My students enjoy reading and math games that are related to what we are learning. My students learn better when paper and and pencil are not involved, so I would like to provide them with the most fun, engaging and exciting learning environment that I can. It is my goal to provide my students with a multitude of options for literacy and math activities. It is when these options are available, that my students stay engaged.
My Project
My class is a Special Ed classroom made up students who come from various backgrounds with multiple academic needs. These materials will assist me helping my students learn basic reading and math skills.. I will be able to utilize these materials in small groups and in centers.
The materials I selected will help my students build on skills and continue to help them grow in math and reading.
The materials are also hands on learning activities that will keep my students engaged. These are all skills that will strengthen my student’s abilities in all academic areas. Learning is a hands on experince.
