Help me give my students modeling clay to provide them with an active learning experience. This clay is easy to mold and sculpt for little hands so students can create new animals.
Our school has been around since the 1950s. In fact, some of my students' parents and grandparents attended the same school. It is a small community with a lot of big hearts. The kids and families love the community and it has a big family feel.
Teaching in public schools, we have many different challenges, with children who need very diverse learning environments.
While my students love their school, community, and classmates, being in a school that was built so long ago, brings challenges. We don't have the materials that are needed to help students with the education they deserve. These youngsters are our future teachers, CEOs, engineers, doctors, and maybe even a future United States president and deserve the best education I can give them.
My Project
For students to truly fall in love with science and understand its foundation, they need immersive experiences. After learning about how animals use behavioral and physical adaptations to survive, they will create their own "animal" and give it adaptations.
Creating their very own animal out of clay and other materials will give students a true understanding of animal adaptations.
In the past, I have not had enough clay for each child to make their own animal. With your help, each student will have a project to take home.
This project is so much more than playing with clay. Students will think critically and creatively while using their knowledge of animal adaptations to develop an animal that could survive in the wild.
