This project will reach 36 diverse 4 and 5 year old students. The students in our pre-K program are at risk students that have qualified to be a part of our program based on academic need. The students in my classroom come from diverse cultures which include ELL learners and students with special needs.
My students are eager to learn and enjoy hands on learning opportunities.
Their learning is fostered through exploration and play. Their learning is also fostered through daily interactions in their environment.
If my project is funded students will benefit from the use of the writing, literacy, and math materials that are being requested in various ways. Students will be able to utilize materials during small group time. Through the use of the materials during small group time students will practice the targeted skills under teacher direction and guidance. Students will also be able to utilize materials in centers during choice time. As students use materials during choice time, they will be able to independently practice the skills that have been introduced during whole group and small group. Students will also be able to practice social skills as they work together to complete activities.
The Lakeshore Magic Board set of 10 will be used during small group time.
Students will use the boards to practice writing in small groups under teacher guidance. The Alphabet games learning tablet will be used in the library center during choice time. Children will practice beginning literacy skills as they use the alphabet games learning tablet. The Unlock It! Number Match will be used during small group and choice time. Children will work on one to one correspondence and numeracy as they utilize The Unlock It! Number Match game.
