I teach 24 Kindergarten students who are curious and always eager to learn new things. My kindergarten students work together, problem solve and share ideas and activities. Our school is a Title one school and is located in a small, rural community which is the fastest growing in the state of Louisiana.
The quote, "What we learn with pleasure we never forget" is such a true statement when teaching young students.
I truly believe if we want our students to stay motivated and engaged, then it is essential to make learning fun!
My Project
If awarded the 2 iPads and magna blocks for my classroom, my students would have the up to date technology and application designed for them and their individual needs. The iPads would increase the engagement and excitement as well as to provide remediation, enrichment and intervention for my students. We would use them to take accelerated reading tests, and engage in interactive lessons. The iPads would also be used in centers. Students would be able to listen to books and record themselves reading to help with their fluency and comprehension. There are many educational apps that I have researched. I know my kindergartners would not only love but learn by playing them. Some of them include include BrainPOP jr., Raz-Kids, Bob Books, Starfall is well as many math apps. The iPads would engage my students, allowing them to be in charge of their learning. The magna blocks would become a STEM center creating buildings, bridges, or anything else a 5 year old could imagine!
