My students need art supplies for social and emotional activities with peers!
Every day, children walk into my classroom full of excitement ready to learn! Students at our school come from diverse backgrounds.
My classroom provides the students with a safe and predictable environment.
Predictability and routine of the classroom help to cushion the impact of stressors, and, as a teacher, I am in an excellent position to identify and support these children’s unique needs.
I provide a stimulating learning environment for my students. I foster their confidence and give them the courage they need to trust their own opinions which is necessary to develop their critical and creative thinking skills. I want children to be active learners and disciplined, creative thinkers who learn to make good choices, to work cooperatively and to be kind and responsible.
With an endless amount of art supplies my students will have constant opportunities to experience hands on learning in my classroom! Having materials the students can cut, glue, stick, and manipulate will allow for open-ended conversations to socialize and work in partners. It is important to give kids a lot of opportunities—both structured and unstructured—to talk to one another during the course of the day. Bouncing ideas off of one another or figuring out problems with a little give-and-take will help my students build understanding and confidence. My students will be able to take the foam stickers, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, tape, glue, markers, and buttons and have those very important socializing conversations all while learning!
One very important part of developing social and emotional skills in children is giving kids lots of opportunities to work with partners.
Working with a partner helps kids learn to cooperate and builds community in my classroom. I will alternate between strategically assigning partnerships and allowing kids to make their own choices.
Being able to work in a group setting is an important life skill. Students will learn how to negotiate with others, develop leadership skills and figure out their own strengths so they can best contribute to the group.
I will use the craft organizer to organize all my new supplies in it so the students have easy access to supplies!
