This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a Diverse Learners classroom of eleven 3rd graders. They are all excited to learn and love to play games. They are all uniquely different in their own ways and they are doing a really great job getting along with one another. I have a student who loves to watch the train go by the classroom. I have a student who loves to learn sign words. I have a student who always makes us laugh. I have a student who loves to be a leader. I have a student who loves to write little thank you notes with beautiful drawings. Lastly, I have a student who is far behind but is never discouraged. They all work so hard and crave learning new things.
My Project
Some of the materials in this wish list are for a student in my class that has autism who needs more hands-on materials for learning. For the student with autism, I am requesting puzzles, games, and Magna-Tiles for him to cool down with when he gets frustrated. I'm also requesting 8 wobbly seats for my students who need flexible seating at their desk. All of the materials are chosen to help my students with a variety of abilities. I am a first-year teacher and don't have the money to get these much-needed materials for my students. These materials would help with class rotation and function.
