My students need the Osmo Genius Kit as a way to turn their iPads into a tool to make math and reading more hands-on and kinesthetic, as well as dry erase white boards!
I will be teaching 22 kindergarten students at a school that understands the benefits technology can have in the classroom. Our 1:1 iPad ratio will allow my students to explore reading, math, and other subjects in an engaging, tactile, and kinesthetic way. These students need to be able to manipulate objects to explore the world around them.
I want my students to be little sponges, eager to soak up every new and exciting thing in the world around them.
I am so excited to begin my teaching career, and I know that my students will benefit from having technology in the classroom.
My Project
I have requested the Osmo Genius Kit because it will give my eager-to-explore kindergartners a way to turn our class set of iPads into a more hands-on learning tool.
With the different learning tools that the Osmo kit provides, my students will be encouraged to think visually, solve problems, and display their creativity.
Research shows that students in early elementary learn more quickly and display better retention when they are given the opportunity to develop skills in a hands-on way. The Osmo kit will engage my students by allowing them to physically manipulate letters and numbers.
I will use the dry erase white boards for many activities including practicing student handwriting, stations, displaying answers, and throughout all subject areas - all while saving paper!
