We are located in rural South Dakota. Young children in my classroom love nature, playing and being with friends.
My busy kindergarten students are very inquisitive and they learn best when they have interesting hands-on activities to work on in small groups.
During their first year in school they learn how to read and write. They learn many important math skills and it is also important that they learn about the world around them. My kindergartners also learn key social skills and how to work in small groups. They have so much to learn and yet they are always willing to step up to the challenge with a cheerful, positive attitude and a great, big smile!
My Project
Kindergartners are very excited about school and being with their friends. It is difficult for them to sit and listen for long, so I like to have them doing hands-on activities while I'm working with smaller groups in the classroom.
I want my kindergarten students to learn in the best possible way while having fun, so that they will feel successful and they will love school at an early age!
The items I've chosen focus on the Common Core Standards and are table top activities that will help reinforce what I've taught them. Some of the supplies I've chosen focus on how to: write the alphabet, spell 3-letter words, match rhyming words, read and write sight words, match shapes, count and compare numbers. In addition I've chosen the "Let's Find Out" science magazine subscription for each child. With this weekly magazine I can teach kindergartners about the world around them and expand on each concept relating it to their own lives.
I believe that the items in my projects will enhance learning helping students to be better readers, writers and thinkers! Kindergartners will be very thrilled to have these interesting eye-catching activities to use and they are sure to learn so much from them! In return it will help them feel successful and love school at an early age!
