Our class family consists of a diverse group of 25 six and seven year olds. We are in a rural Title I school so some of our students have difficult home lives but still manage to come to school with smiles on their faces. They have the greatest imaginations and are fantastic storytellers.
Our class especially loves hands on activities that lets them use their imaginations to build and create.
Every other Thursday we have fun centers where they have the opportunity to play and put their beautiful minds to work. I would love to give them more stem projects and manipulatives to use. For example, over the summer I purchased magnetic building blocks that have been a huge hit!
My Project
The highlight of my students' week is when they get to take out the fun centers and build! All the students in our class participate, including those with special needs. The students love working with their peers and showing off what they create. It is inspiring watching them work together and help others!
The resources included in the project will serve multiple purposes such as building sight words, used as math manipulatives, and just pure student enjoyment.
Each of the materials listed will give the students the opportunity to understand the process of building the tallest tower or use their fine motor skills to create an object.
