Help me give my students an opportunity to practice word play, writing, small group interactions as well as their math skills with a mobile dry erase easel.
I am fortunate enough to be working in such a wonderful two-way immersion program that fosters students learning in two languages as well as embracing their biculturalism. We are an inclusive classroom catering to students with many different needs and learning styles. All types of learners are accommodated in the classroom by working together and building a community.
Not all of my students have the resources at home that many other students have yet their drive and willingness to learn is demonstrated by their tremendous growth in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in not one, but two languages.
Distractions do not get in their way as they persevere in learning. These students are provided with instruction and support that allows them to succeed to become bilingual and bicultural.
My Project
It is my first year teaching at my school and as many new teachers know, we often start off wth a bare classroom or poor working resources. I have brought in many of my previous materials but was unable to take with me some essential pieces for learning such as my mobile dry erase easel. My students have been able to manage with the one small whiteboard we have in our classroom but our classroom would greatly benefit from a mobile easel that can easily be used around the room with different small group activities and interactions. This easel would really help when I model writing activities, word play activities and have small-groups. The small whiteboard we have is currently located on the side of the classroom and not a very function-able one for students to learn around and interact with.
My students are a wonderful group of children who would be overjoyed to have a mobile dry erase easel they could use for writing, reading and math activities.
As a two-way immersion classroom, they need not only meet the standards in one language but in two languages. They show grit every day to perform in both languages and would benefit from engaging and interactive materials. Thank you in advance for your support!
