Help me give my students materials to participate in hands on learning at home, with whiteboards and art materials, key necessities for Pre-K learning.
Like so many schools across the country and nation, we had less than 24 hours to put together materials for our students and only expected to be out of school for 2-3 weeks tops. We have currently been out 5 weeks and there is no end in sight. For my PreK students I don't know what materials they have access to at home as many are in low socio-economic areas and resources are slim.
Research shows extended screen time is not beneficial for young children and extended use can actually have negative effects on a child's development.
I would love to have "at home learning" bags for my students to be able to give them activities and lessons that require less media usage and more hands on learning, with short lessons from myself.
These "at home learning" bags will include useful art materials, manipulatives for counting and literacy skills as well as a bag to keep it all neat. Thank you for considering my project and helping my students thrive while they are at home!
My Project
By providing students with these materials will ensure they have the things they need to fully engage in art projects, assignments and activities provided by myself and school staff. These materials are the basics to what we have in the classroom and use on a daily basis. Many of these items are versitle and can be used for a variety of lessons!
In conjunction with virtual platforms and live online lessons, hands on materials provide a greater opportunity for students to work to their maximum potential from home.
The additional workbook gives families a choice to how they want to support their young learner at home.
