My students need 8 math manipulative sets. These sets include magnetic counting books, see and solve manipulative sets, addition and subtraction math mats, counting boxes, a frog addition set, math links, translucent counters, and an early math match up set.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am a kindergarten teacher in rural South Carolina. Our district has been featured on SC ETV's "Corridor of Shame." We are a Title One school with a very high poverty rate. Ninety three percent of our students receive free or reduced priced lunch. To add to all of this, because of budget cuts, our supply funds have been frozen this year.
Kindergarten children learn best through hands on activities. They need to be able to manipulate objects to strengthen the math concepts that we cover in kindergarten.
My children find many of the math concepts foreign to their way of thinking. These math manipulatives that I have requested will help them master the concepts easier by providing repeated hands on activities.
Your help and support of this project will help 23 kindergarten children master math skills that they will need to start a firm foundation for further school success. Thank you for your help.
