My students need materials to engage them in hands-on learning of Kindergarten skills. I choose 5 activity mats that work on rhyming and number skills.
I have the best job in the world being able to teach the most curious, playful, and joyful students in school - Kindergarteners! I want to build on these wonderful qualities by providing hands-on opportunities for learning.
Our school is only 3 years old and is growing.
We are blessed to have students of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school provides programs to help students with special needs and find ways for peer collaboration. Our school is K - 8 and we help students across the grade levels work together.
My Project
All students, no matter their background or needs, can benefit from hands-on learning experiences. These games that I am requesting all correlate with our Kindergarten skills and allow students to practice these skills in a hands-on way. The walking number line will be used throughout the year. At the beginning of the year we will use it to practice counting and by the end of the year we will be using it to practice simple addition and subtraction. The other games will help us practice rhyming, tens and ones place, telling time, number identification, addition and subtraction.
Research tells us that students learn in a variety of ways and that each student has their own best way of learning. Traditional teaching reaches visual and audio learners. These games will provide another way to present skills and appeal to kinesthetic learners by incorporating movement.
We really appreciate your support!
It is so important to provide the best learning possible at this early age. We are laying the foundation in Kindergarten for the rest of their school lives. Giving to this project will ensure that we are giving children more opportunities to explore and understand these basic foundational Math and Reading skills.
