My sweet kindergarten children attend their neighborhood public school in Louisiana. My school is very close to a military base so the majority of my students (and our school) move frequently. A high percentage of our children have parents currently deployed at this time. Not only does our school have a high population of military students but we also have mixed socioeconomic backgrounds. My children have very diverse learning styles and abilities, including children with special needs.
I am blessed to spend my day with 21 kids that are energetic and excited about learning!
Our days are fun-filled and have lots of learning going on. They love working in small groups and exploring activities that provide hands-on activities. I am needing more items for them to use during small groups and exploring STEM activities that will also help with their fine motor skills and achieve their goals.
My Project
All of my students want to learn and hands-on activities and "playing" is some of the best ways! My class can not rotate around very often due to limited manipulatives right now. During class, these supplies will allow them to work comfortably in small groups. This helps them with the basic skills of fine motor, sharing, building, exploring and also builds self-esteem that they need. The containers will allow me to sort the supplies in small group amounts for the children.
These supplies will benefit my students in many ways!
Manipulatives provide effective and engaging lessons that support math and reading. Problem-solving skills can also be developed through the use of these manipulatives! My students will be able to use these manipulatives to practice math, reading, fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, as well as color recognition! These manipulatives will focus on math, reading, sorting, building, and sharpening fine motor skills as well as hand to eye coordination. Manipulatives have an endless amount of use when working with my little students!
