My students need Gaiam balance balls to use as flexible seating options. They also need hands-on building materials such as Picasso tiles, interlocking plastic discs, and straw building blocks.
My kindergarten students come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Some students are very underprepared for kindergarten, while others need to be challenged from the start. About half or 51% of the students at my school are considered low income and receive free lunch.
All of my students share a love for learning and play!
With the use of these new "toys", the students will create and build while learning at the same time! Incorporating flexible seating in the classroom is an excellent way for students to become comfortable and ready to learn.
Ultimately, I want my students to have the best kindergarten experience as possible. With more hands-on activities for students to manipulate, I can achieve this goal.
My Project
My students need flexible seating opportunities in the kindergarten classroom. With the use of the Gaiam balance balls, they will be able to get their wiggles out while learning at the same time. The balls have legs which will allow them to stay in one spot and not roll across the room.
Hands-on materials are an important part of a positive learning environment.
With the use of the hands-on materials, such as the Picasso tiles, interlocking plastic discs, and straw building blocks, my students can create and build different designs. STEM education is an important aspect of education. Math and Science is incorporated into the use of these items without my students even realizing it. Hands-on materials make learning fun for everyone!
