Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn new things everyday. They love to use hands on materials to enhance their knowledge during reading and math centers. As many of my students were impacted by Hurricane Irma and Maria, it is important for my students to be able to feel comfortable at school and get the most out of their learning experience.
We are a Title 1 elementary school with 300+ students.
All students receive free breakfast and/or lunch. We are a proactive school with several before and after school tutoring and community outreach programs. Our students' families struggle financially, but our school community is dedicated to helping our parents provide for their children.
The educators and support staff are amazing in their dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of our students. Our school goal is to give each student the best education and the best support possible at all times. We are determined to succeed in our mission and we will not let our students down!
My Project
Hands on learning materials are an essential part of an elementary classroom. My students love to be engaged while learning. These activities will make a difference in my reading and math centers. We engage in centers on a daily basis and are always in need of fun and challenging materials to use.
VersaTiles are a great way to help students be engaged in the learning process by having them complete tasks that challenge their thinking.
These hands on materials will be great for my visual learners and English Language Learners as well. I have used Versa Tiles in the past and know the endless fun students have while using them. They don't even realize they are learning because they are so engaged. I know these activities will be a wonderful addition to our classroom and have a great impact on my students' hands on learning.
