My Students
My curious first graders love exploring our world! Due to our International Baccalaureate inquiry based learning model, their questions are endless! No matter where they are academically, whether it be above or below level, I want to assure that their education is engaging and accessible. Therefore, my students spend a majority of their day interacting with their peers, using technology to explore new concepts, and learning from each other as I help guide their instruction and answer their questions.
My independent learners need the right tools to keep them excited about learning and to prepare them for their futures.
Our classroom is created around building independence, so my students not only value the knowledge of their teacher, but, also learn how to love, value, and trust their peers.
My Project
The word formation sand tray and the sandpaper bundle will provide my students with a tactile experience to help them learn letter formation and will assist in their ability to connect writing letters with the appropriate letter sounds. Furthermore, the phonetic reading blocks and the alphabet letter game will help my students learn how to blend consonant vowel consonant words and practice rhyming. The number puzzles and number cards will provide my students with tools to help them learn one to one number correspondence which will build a foundation for adding and subtracting fluently. Finally, the basic life skills learn to dress boards will allow my students an opportunity to improve their fine motor skills.
These manipulatives will provide hands on opportunities for my students to learn their letter and numbers which is the foundation to reading and math.
