I am an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. I have 12 amazing students! Students in my room range from age 3-6 with varying levels of abilities (speech, ASD, cognitive impairment, and other health impairments). Students in this room generally spend 1-3 years in ECSE until they move on to kindergarten. I do the best I can to prepare them for kindergarten!
Families in my classroom come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and range from a traditional family, to single parent homes.
We all have one thing in common. We want our students to have every opportunity to succeed!
My Project
New manipulatives in the classroom will provide my students with some fantastic hands on fine motor opportunities. As all of my students have special needs, fine motor skills are often an area where we focus a lot of our attention on.
New dolls, clothing, and food for our dramatic play area will help all of my students, but especially students who are on the Autism Spectrum interact socially with peers in the classroom with hands on experience.
A new, smaller rug in the classroom will help during large group activities. This will be our area to sit, learn about personal space, and a way to interact verbally with one another.
