Being part of an arts and science integrated magnet school, my students have mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read simple sentences, write on lined paper and count to ten when they walk through my doors, while some of their classmates are learning to read chapter books, writing paragraphs and adding and subtracting up to 25. Our group loves to play outside, learn new games, and boogie to some Gonoodle!
In this class, we build a community with each other and truly become a family of lifelong learners.
I teach in a wing of four first grade classrooms. As my students make gains in my classroom in the typical English, language arts and mathematics categories, they are also given integrated lessons of the arts and science standards. The work we do in this classroom builds relationships and provides general education content by celebrating every person's individual learning style.
My Project
These items will help to fully immerse my students in their learning centers. The students will be enjoying center time so much that they won't even know just how many of the academic standards they are learning! The CVC stamp sets allow students to have a hands on activity that also tests their knowledge of spelling and vowel sounds. The various puzzles allow the students to enjoy their time while also solidifying our goals that we have been working on throughout our small groups. These materials will help the students beam with pride and excitement with all they have learned in the classroom!
