We are a sanctuary school in Oakland, California. My students bring diversity to school, making it a very enriching experience for every member of the community. My students are very lively, energetic, and full of curiosity.
As a teacher, I value critical thinking and strive to create academic rigor for our students so that they are better prepared for the Next Generation Science Standards.
At this time, their access to learning is limited. I wish to make the learning process much more accessible and enjoyable to them. I know that with a variety of learning tools, they will have a good handle on conceptual knowledge.
My Project
Many a connections are made when students have a hands-on experience building with the molecular models kits. Students will use these kits to build models of some simple molecules like water, carbon dioxide etc and some complex ones too. The repeating units will help to show how easy and clear it is to represent molecules through balls that represent atoms.
Each of these molecular model kits will give my students a very engaging experience in understanding the lesson on chemical bonds.
The Post-it pads will be used to share their ideas while they engage in colloborative team work. The composition books are part of their notebooking experience as our Next Generation Science Students.
This experience builds and reinforces their conceptual knowledge. It encourages them to apply the theoretical knowledge of chemical bonding.
