I teach kindergarten students in a poverty-stricken area. My students are very sweet and eager to learn, but many of them entered kindergarten performing below the entrance benchmark. They are a very energetic, active group. With that being said, they are a group that truly appreciates all of the little things. They thoroughly enjoy learning and every opportunity they are given.
The class is made up of 22 students, including several students with special needs, including ADHD and multiple learning disabilities.

My Project
Currently, our students are attending kindergarten virtually. Kindergarten is a time for exploration, creativity, and engaging in fun learning opportunities.
The research suggests that children learn the best when engaged in multi-sensory activities.
I am asking for construction paper, glitter, cardstock, and other materials to send home with my students so they can engage in multi-sensory activities. Asking parents to buy these materials would be a burden on a lot of my students' families.
I am planning to make games students can take home and work on to build phonemic awareness skills and number sense. I want to provide them with activities that make them excited about learning, even if they are doing it from home.
