Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is located in a rural area where students often face many challenges outside of the classroom along with those they face every day at school. Yet, it's amazing how resilient they are when faced with challenges at school and at home. I'm inspired every day when I see the effort they put into their schoolwork. For many of my students, the classroom is their safe place to be. With all of the challenges my students overcome, they enjoy coming to school everyday and learning. They truly inspire me to keep working to provide them with the best learning experience!
My Project
My students love to do hands-on activities. They enjoy building, creating, and putting together puzzles. My classroom rug area is often a gathering spot for my students to work together on floor puzzles. They also enjoy connecting blocks and using their imaginations to create structures, airplanes, cars, and other works of art.
My project is a combination of floor puzzles, building blocks, and hands-on math activities to bring learning back into the hands of my students.
They've put together the few floor puzzles and have gone through my limited number of hands-on activities over and over again without complaint. It's amazing to see the joy in their faces as they successfully put together a puzzle with their friends.
I'm really looking forward to the hands-on Math kits to help my tactile learners better understand difficult concepts in Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication.
