My Students

My students are compassionate, thoughtful 7th graders who love to explore and have fun with science enrichment. My group of students ranges in age from 12 to 14. These years are tough on kids. Many going through challenges related to just growing up, but they also face health, family, and emotional challenges.

Despite the challenges, my students come willing and ready to learn.

They especially love hands-on tasks. They say, "Look, Mrs. Hawkins, I'm a scientist!" The students especially love to broadcast their works of science on the campus news to teach other students.

My Project

My students are inquisitive and excited to learn in fun ways. Oftentimes, science can be a challenge to understand, but when my students have hands-on activities to do, they catch on to science concepts very quickly. Participating in dissections will enable my students to apply what they have learned from the theoretical standpoint. Dissections bring life science concepts to life and a provide stimulating activity that furthers understanding. Doing dissections will help my students continue to grow and learn in various ways that will keep their love for learning alive.
