My students need new and updated math and Literacy materials to use for our stations. The Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs are something we already use, but many of the pieces are missing from years of use.
I work in a low-income/high-poverty district, in a school located in a rural community. My students face many challenges both in and outside of the classroom. I am driven to provide many opportunities for customized learning experiences for my students.
My students love to play, move, sing, dance, read, and learn!
They love to do these things in a variety of locations in our classroom. My students are working at a variety of levels, and we are in need of new, complete learning kits and materials to continue to meet the needs of these diverse learners.
My Project
Every day in our classroom, we cycle through a series of Literacy and math stations. I try to make these stations as hands-on as possible, in order to make them engaging to students while building fine motor skills. I spend much of my own time and money to buy and create the materials for these stations.
The kits and materials in this project will not only be engaging for my students, but will also save me considerable time and money, while still providing meaningful learning experiences for my students.
The Rhyming Houses and Alphabet Learning Locks will be used as permanent learning activities in our "Target Time" buckets, which are made up of activities to reinforce practice for our learning targets.
The Ten Frame Dice will be used in both Target Time buckets, and for our weekly rotating "Grow Time" bucket activities. The Learning Dough Counting Mats will be a wonderful activity for the children to build fine motor skills while also learning about matching quantities to numbers.
