My first graders need a sand and water table to provide them a hands-on approach to learning new words! My school is not Title 1, so unfortunately we do not receive extra funds for classroom materials. I have several students in my class this year that are new to the United States and learning English.

As non-English speakers, my students need as many hands-on activities as possible to increase their learning.

I am hoping to get a sand and water table for my first grade classroom. I want to make it a fun learning center for my students to help them learn new sight words and vocabulary words. I am going to fill the table with various things (one week water, the next week beans, maybe confetti the next week...) and hide magnetic letters in there as well. I will then have a new list of words each week consisting of new vocabulary words and sight words. The children will have to hunt for the letter to make up the words. This hands-on activity will not only increase their ability to recognize letters, but it will also improve their vocabulary and sigh word recognition.

Your help would absolutely thrill my students (and me too)! I am a huge believer that learning needs to be fun, and having a sand and water table would help add more fun to my classroom! Thank you in advance. Your help will truly make a difference.
