My students are in a seventh, and eighth-grade AVID Elective class.These students are currently learning in a hybrid model, one week in person, one week virtual.
They are creative, free thinkers that desire and need challenges during this time of uncertainty and many changes.
My Project
My students creating handmade greeting cards as part of a community service project through our local food pantry. Students create cards with positive messages that are included in the food boxes. We hope to brighten the lives of others during these trying times.
These students are part of our AVID Elective class and participate in community service projects 3-4 times per year.
This year it is more difficult to create these experiences for the students since we are not able to take field trips outside of our building. The opportunity came up for us to help out our local community group that provides food boxes. I want the students to understand that even in this trying time we can reach out and do something simple to brighten someone else's day.
My students need colored card stock, stickers, and gel pens to create the cards.
