My Students

Hello! Welcome to my 2nd grade classroom. I currently co-teach in a Title I school where roughly 2/3 of our students are on free/reduced lunch and many of our students come from single-parent household. Within the past few years our classroom sizes have increased, resulting in the need for different classroom supplies and teachers needing to use a more "whole brain" approach to their classroom.

My students are learning to take responsibility for not only themselves, but also for their successes in the classroom. By approaching their learning with a hands-on, whole brain technique, allows them to not only gain an understanding but to solidify their knowledge for life long success

My Project

My students need Rappica gloves to be able to handle all of the animals they have been responsible for caring for. They enjoy taking care of the chinchilla, the rabbits, the guinea pigs and the hamster. These handling gloves allow all of my students to hold any animal in the room with ease! Being an inclusion teacher and by giving my students a sensory outlet allows them to better self regulate in the classroom.

In an environment where many of my students do have the access to animals and learning the care that comes along with them, having animals in the classroom allows them to grow.

Not only are they growing, but they are learning empathy, respect and how to care for others.
