My Students

My students come to school excited to learn. They are active learners and get so excited with new knowledge. Many come from homes that just provide the basic needs. Often they lack background knowledge, vocabulary and life experiences. As their teacher, I find myself, more often than not, being the first person to introduce life concepts, social skills, character development and global awareness.

I want to give my students opportunities and experiences to engage in meaningful learning and conversations.

I want to introduce new concepts and general knowledge in a fun, visual and memorable way.

My Project

This hand2mind math kit will give me the exact tools to help my students master foundational skills. Math is very abstract to young children. This kit will give my students the opportunity through hand on learning to develop numeracy and the ability to use mathematical relationships to reason with numbers and numerical concepts. This is a giant step that first graders need to master in order to successfully build deeper math concepts. Let me offer them this crucial skills needed to build their future ability to understand and master developmental concepts and become confident mathematicians and problem solvers in life.
