Help me give my students new opportunities to explore hand drums and rhythm composition. We will be performing percussion pieces throughout this school year and these drums will allow the students to play and accompany songs.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
We have 250+ low social-economic students with half our population in dual-language, English language learners, and special education. A vast majority of our students are minorities. This school district is heavily impoverished. These students are great kids that want the opportunity to succeed. A large number of our students come from single-parent homes.
As a music education teacher, I endeavor to bring music literacy to these bright eyed adventurers.
We are currently discussing correlations between reading, writing and counting rhythms and an increase in comprehension in reading, writing and mathematics. These students love to play instruments and I am highly interested in providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
These hand drums will allow the students at our school to explore hand drumming. We do not currently have enough hand drums at either school to be able to perform as a classroom set.
This project will allow the students to perform a drum line style performance called an Orffestration.
Students will compose their own rhythms, choose their instruments, and choreograph a routine to perform.
I will record students performances and will place the videos on Bloomz, our social movie account. We will have the 4th graders at opposite schools judge the 5th graders and vice versa so we don't have a bias. Winners will be announced later in the school year and prizes will be determined.
