Help me give my students an Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit to help my English Language Students the ability to practice building and learning their letters as well as other basic needs for our classroom!
I have a classroom of the most wonderful, thoughtful and creative kindergarteners who are filled with the Aloha spirit. We have spent months building a strong classroom community where we all support and encourage each other. They are scientists, artists, builders, creators, and deep thinkers and they are excited to learn, explore and use technology in the classroom.
Living on an island has disadvantages for students, as they are not exposed to as many opportunities as the schools on the mainland.
Our elementary school is a Title I school that falls well below state and national poverty indicators. Our school exceeds the state average for free or reduced-price lunch recipients by over fifteen percent and exceeds the national average by twenty-two percent. Unemployment is high in this district and good-paying jobs are few. Our class is a true melting pot of ethnic diversity. Over half are of Asian descent, thirty percent Hawaiian, and Whites and Hispanics make up the rest. Other students come from homes where English is not the first language spoken.
My Project
Our classroom is always in need to supplies throughout the year. One item I ran out of was band-aids and in kindergarten every scrape and owie is always in need of a band-aid. I even had a student bring in band-aids from her home because she knew I ran ran out, my heart melted due to her sweetness and kindness.
I am asking for Lego's boards so students can take their Lego building to new heights and well as Lego animals to expand their creativity.
I also want students to be able to emulate real-life experiences through play, which is why I am asking for a veterinary kit play station. I snowy owl for a huge Arctic Animals unit I teach in the winter. This plush will help students relate better to this animal they have never heard about before.

In the winter, it rains and rains! Students come to school with muddy feet I am in need of mats as students enter the classroom to wipe their feet. Some students still have muddy feet and I need baby wipes so they can wipe their feet and help keep our brand new carpet clean!
As the winter months are winding down and it's starting to get hot again, I am asking for a portable AC unit to help cool students off, even if it just a brief moment of coolness when they come back from recess and can stand in front of it for a few moments coolness.
