Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In order for someone like myself to be a successful third grade teacher in Harlem, there are certain supplies one can't teach without. Such as dry erase markers, post-its, packing tape, and chart markers. These supplies are used daily by my students or myself. Not only have I used up all of my teacher's choice on these supplies, but I have also requested these supplies from my students for the holidays. However, my student's families cannot afford such contributions to the classroom because of there social economic status. This is why I am requesting supplies for my classroom, so I can write on my board with a marker that works. I can also have my students "stop and jot" as many thoughts that they have on a post-it while they read independently for 30 minutes. Making assessment easier for myself and to make sure my students are on the right track for reading. I can also post the new sight words that we learn weekly with packaging tape instead of gift wrapping tape that falls off our word wall. Finally, I can use new markers for my charts. Your contribution to my classroom will create a functional learning environment for the students of Harlem and we are so grateful.
