Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic and dynamic and love interacting with each other. They are strong-minded and advocate for themselves. They have kind hearts that love to work together and share info. They often help each other when needed and really get excited when we have hands-on projects. They are creative and love to do choral responses, sing songs and partake in review games. They can be competitive and usually listen when they need to be redirected. They are very inquisitive and ask questions. They have that inquiry spirit which shows they want to do well. I work so hard to have my students understand and have pride in being a second language learner. I think they see my passion, commitment and care for them to truly believe the assets of learning Spanish. I am working to provide opportunities for all my students and will continue to push them, show them I care, have high expectations and support them with making good choices through consistency and accountability.
My Project
I believe in creating an inclusive learning environment where all my students can learn, feeling safe, respected and cared for. It is hard for many students to learn a second language, such as Spanish. I try to implement different activities in each unit, like projects and speaking activities. As any lovely high school student, sometimes they don’t know the limited resources that teachers have to buy supplies. They don’t take care of some of the materials that we use in class. My students are active, energetic, cheerful and outgoing. I know that they like to have different activities throughout the week and I need supplies to be able to create class material that lasts longer. With the tools in my list, I will develop laminates for different activities such as communication activities to get students conversing in Spanish more often, using laminated handouts that I can wipe out and have them ready for my next class. I will be reducing consuming paper in each class and I can even use the laminates for other levels. Thank you for your support! iGracias!
