My Students
I work at a very diverse school in a small city. My school services students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are a Title One math science magnet school.
Our students are all eager to learn and have new experiences within their classrooms and school.
The town we live in doesn't have many parks, museums or galleries. It is very dry and hot. Our students do not have many opportunities to have hands on learning outside of their school environment. They love getting outside and working in our garden space. Here they learn about life cycles, taking care of their community and nutrition.
My Project
I am asking for wagons so my K-8 Math Science Magnet school can start to build a habitat/garden. We are at the beginning stages of creating an area where students can learn how to cultivate their environment and eventually grow and sustain a food source.
Our schools focus is using hands on learning for math and
science. Unfortunately, we have no funds to support a truly hands on habitat although we have the space for it. We want to start with teaching the students simple gardening and to do this we need carts for moving items in an outdoor area.
