My students need a misting bottle, heat emitter, thermostat, lamp clamp, and a 20 gal. tank for our first unit, Food Chains and Webs. We will be receiving anoles and earthworms for observations and need a place for them!
Do you remember how excited you were when your class had a pet?
My students are eager 4th grade scientists!!
Our school services all zip codes in Jefferson County. Although we are not considered "at risk" our school is passed up on many types of funding offered to more " at risk" schools. Therefore, many times we are not able to provide materials needed for the classrooms.
My Project
The items we are asking for will provide a habitat (misting bottle, heat emitter, thermostat, lamp clamp, and a 20 gal. tank) for our anoles and earthworms. Our district sends us these creatures for observation and learning. At the end of the unit, many times these anoles are left without homes. These creatures can not be let out into our environment. They are actually harmful to our environment. This habitat environment will provide ongoing learning in the classroom for my scientists!
Providing ongoing hands on learning in the classroom keeps students motivated and ready to learn.
This habitat will give opportunities to practice some practical living skills too. What student doesn't like classroom pets?
