GRIT, if you ask any one of my 5th graders what I hope they will learn this year, it is just that--GRIT. Grit is the ability to persevere when challenged, continue to try even after failing over and over, and embracing mistakes. These kids do that, and more, each and every day.
In our classroom, we don't let hard work stand in our way; we embrace it.
We know that making mistakes is part of our journey. These fabulous 5th graders come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, each facing numerous challenges each day. Yet, somehow they are able to leave everything else at the door and impress me every day.
I am so proud of these hard-working kids. I can't wait to see what creations, discoveries, and inventions are in store in for their future.
My Project
The Get Your Teach On National Conference is a 4 day, immersive experience for educators wanting to bring magic into their classrooms.
By attending the GTYO National Conference I will be able to come back to the new school year refreshed and full of new ideas to make learning fun and exciting for my 5th grade students.
Having followed Hope and Wade King, the creators of Get Your Teach on, and writers of "The Wild Card" book, I know that by going to this conference I will learn how to make learning meaningful, engaging, and fun for my students. Gone will be the days of boring worksheets and lectures, which will be replaced with engaging classroom transformations and learning games.
I am so excited for the opportunity to learn from these masters and to network with educators from all over the country. I know I will come back to school revitalized, empowered and ready to create magic for my students.
